May Round Table

At the May Strafford Town Republican Committee Round Table we were joined by State Representatives Kurt Wuelper and Mike Harrington and US First Congressional District candidate Matt Mowers.  Matt’s father was in marine construction and so grew up in a variety of places including New Hampshire.  Matt has many family members in Strafford County.  Early on in the 2016 presidential race, Matt was working on Governor Chris Christie’s bid for presidency.  When, Christie bowed out and endorsed President Trump, Matt joined the Trump campaign.  With the win in 2016, Matt Mowers became a Senior Representative with the Secretary of State Transition Team.  Matt then became Chief of Staff for the Global Health Office and worked extensively on the campaign against HIV AIDS.  Matt successfully achieved a unanimous reauthorization for this program by developing conversations, trust, and relationships with all specters.  He then used this team from many points of view to sell the reauthorization.  Many people thought it couldn’t be accomplished.  Matt Mowers has raised three times that of the other primary candidate in the first quarter and supports a balanced budget amendment.  Matt Mowers is pro life and will hold the line on taxes.  In sum Matt Mowers has found it valuable to develop relationships and vote on principles.  Please join us on second Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 at the Hill Library in Strafford.  If the library winds up closed still, we will have a Zoom based meeting.  Please join us in June where we will have the other Matt running for the 1st Congressional District seat, Matt Mayberry joining us.

Matt Mowers also shared with us that the previous president had left quite a mess.  The previous administration had given Iran cash and was soft on North Korea.  Matt Mowers was part of the team that was able to stop most of the billion dollars that the previous president had tried to give out through the Department of State to climate change groups at the last minute out of counter terrorism accounts and counter narcotic accounts.  Matt Mowers team helped to save 15 million lives and the lessons that the Trump administration used in that effort, Matt sees being used in the rapid and phenomenal response to C19 that brought together the best and brightest in government, industry, and education.  Matt Mowers saw how WHO was rolling over to China in the hopes that China would give them more money.  Matt called for the travel restrictions in January of this year a couple of days prior to President Trump enacting them.  Matt Mowers has more endorsements than any other candidate running.  When Matt was Chief of Staff for the Global Health Office, he proposed to reduce the budget by 400 million dollars.
